Margit Seland draws colours, shapes and textures from the surroundings she moves through. Nature has also always been a great source of inspiration. Seeds, capsules, seasons, changes, cycles. In recent years, she has worked exclusively with recycled materials in her textile works, such as worn sails, tarpaulins and firewood sacks.
Margit Seland received her art education at the Dutch Gerrit Rietveld Academie, where since 2000 she lived and worked with her own studio in Amsterdam. In 2021, she moved back to Norway and settled in Trondheim.
Her latest solo exhibition, KAPSEL, in 2023, was presented at the invitation of Nordenfjeldske Kunstindustrimuseum, Trondheim. Her exhibition activity is concentrated on the Norwegian art market, but she also takes part in exhibitions elsewhere in Europe and the USA. Her work has been acquired for public collections by the Philadelphia Museum of Art in the USA, the Dutch Embassy, NKIM and the National Museum.
