Grave

Kjell Aukrust died on Christmas Eve 2002. Symbolically enough, as fond of the Christmas holidays as Kjell was. He was granted a state funeral, with King Harald and the then Minister of Culture, Valgerd Svarstad Haugland, present at the memorial service in Nordstrand church. But of course, he was to be brought back home, to Alvdal. On January 10th, 2003, Kjell was buried in Alvdal church, with a private ceremony for family, friends, and the residents of Alvdal. In 2020, he was joined by his beloved Kari (née Holter). On the gravestone are Ludvig's words: God bless our Lord.
