Ludvig's House

Ludvig's House

The property is called Bjørkheim and is separated from the farm Olen. Here lived Ludvig Lundquist and his wife Gudrun Olafsen. Ludvig originally came from Stange and was a tinsmith. In his youth, Ludvig modeled for Gustav Vigeland. The statue has crossed arms and stands on the bridge in Vigeland Park.

In the 1970s, Lundquist was presented as the model for Kjell Aukrust's 'Ludvig' in Norwegian magazines. The name is the same, as well as the wide-brimmed hat and the backpack. But the life story of Ludvig Lundquist is far from 'Ludvig's.' Lundquist had sailed around the world, worked as a miner in England, and got tattooed in Australia.
