Sandeggbakken

"On the other side of the river lay Sandeggbakken in the black shadow of Baugsberg, towering and waiting."
Waiting for a little Kjell who would get new ski jumping skis if he improved his own record to 30 meters. Waiting for today's young jumpers with ambitions of record-breaking leaps.
The first ski jumping competition at Sandeggbakken was held in 1904, and the hill was fully developed in 1908. Since then, the hill has changed and developed several times, most recently in 1997. The largest hill has a K-point of 52 meters, but it's no longer "forty meters straight out, with a free fall".
"God save us from landing in Sandeggbakken. Socks and stockings were left as accordions in the boots, while the ski tips of hickory were shattered."
"He who jumps in Sandeggbakken jumps in Planica!" said Reidar Andersen (famous ski jumper in the 1930’s). And that's completely true! Many national team jumpers have participated in Solan Gundersen's Winter Games, the main national competition in ski jumping and Nordic combined for teenagers, and later jumped in both Planica and Vikersund.
