Here in Alvdal, you can do just that during the summer season by earning your astronaut certificate and taking a trip to the moon in the rocket La Pollo XIII.
Four storeys full of inventions
The rocket rises four storeys high and is full of Reodor Felgen’s ingenious inventions, and you get to try many of them out.

Engine room and workshop
On the first floor, you’ll find the engine room and its workshop, where the goal is to get the snow cannon engine started.
Physical test
On the second floor, it’s time to check whether you’re physically fit to travel into outer space.
Lounge
On the next-to-top floor, there is a very special lounge where you go through some particularly important theory questions.
Cockpit
At the top is the cockpit, where Solan makes sure you’re launched to the moon — and Ludvig reassures you that almost everyone makes it back down again!
From sketches to La Pollo XIII
The inspiration behind it
Kjell Aukrust was always fascinated by outer space, and the moon rocket La Pollo XIII is the result of both loose and direct inspiration from Kjell Aukrust’s work, drawing on the incredible imaginative possibilities of the Flåklypa universe.
The moon rocket is the end result of work that began in the late 1990s, when the idea of a Flåklypa land first emerged. Helge Ness presented the first sketches, and architect Atle Berg completed the building plans. The rocket was finished in 2014.
The backstory behind the moon trips comes from the fact that Solan Gundersen has always been curious about whether the moon is made of cheese or stone. Reodor Felgen was therefore put on the case.
Practical information
The moon rocket La Pollo XIII is open every day during the school holidays. During the autumn, the moon rocket is open on weekends until the snow arrives, and during the school autumn break.
The moon rocket has room for 8 people per trip, and tickets are purchased in the museum shop as an add-on to the museum ticket. At the ticket desk, we’ll book you in at a suitable time for your moon trip! Once you’ve been given a time slot, it’s a good idea to meet at the moon rocket five minutes before entry, and the astronaut instructors will collect you outside the rocket when it’s time for your trip!
It’s a good idea to allow a little extra time when you’re both travelling to the moon and visiting the museum. After all, it takes a little time to travel to the moon — a trip lasts between 20 and 30 minutes. Just imagine, a quick trip to the moon in under an hour!
The moon trips are suitable for most ages, with plenty of fun for both adults and children. Inside the rocket, there’s lots to try out for adults and older children alike, and it is filled with all sorts of things to look at. For the very youngest children in the rocket, it’s worth considering whether the child is comfortable with exciting sounds, such as engine roars, and a slightly bumpy trip to the moon. There may even be a little smoke if something should go wrong.
