An artist museum
Huset Aukrust is an artist museum, filled with drawings, paintings and stories by the multitalented Kjell Aukrust. The Aukrust universe also includes several different inventions, such as a splendid chocolate machine and a self-powered outdoor toilet power plant. Here you can experience the Flåklypa cast of characters, learn more about Kjell’s childhood and what inspired him.
In the gallery itself, we change the exhibition every year to match the theme of the year. Around three thousand of Kjell Aukrust’s original drawings and paintings are in our collection and can be displayed to the public. We are happy to organize them according to the year’s theme.
For the whole family
Many adults bring their children and grandchildren to relive fond memories of the Flåklypa universe.
To give children and young people the best possible experience of the museum itself, we recommend that children visit together with adults. It is important to explore together so that children can learn about the fantastic universe Aukrust created. There is a great deal to read and look at here, and plenty of opportunities for an adult to tell children about what they encounter in the exhibitions. In addition to the museum experience itself, we also have several activities and inventions available for children and young people.

Solan and Ludvig’s café
Visiting the museum shop and Solan and Ludvig’s café is free of charge. In the low season, the café may be self-service.
The museum shop
The museum shop is brimming with books, pictures, slippers, T-shirts with various illustrations, and many other Aukrust products. Many visitors are looking for something featuring Solan and Ludvig, or Reodor Felgen and Emanuel Desperados.
