Welcome everyone

Accessibility

We work to ensure that Huset Aukrust is a good experience no matter how you get around. The museum is on one level, and most of it is accessible – but some areas have natural limitations. If you need anything specific, please feel free to contact us before your visit.

General accessibility and parking

Parking: Well adapted for people with reduced mobility, with easily accessible parking right outside the main entrance.
Building: The entire museum is on one floor. It is approximately 130 metres from the entrance door through to the exit door, and approximately 170 metres in total to the stairs leading up to the moon rocket.
Mobility aids: One wheelchair is available for visitors to borrow.
Facilities: The café has an accessible toilet and a baby changing table.

Museum areas and accessibility

Flåklypasalen: Wheelchair users can sit at the front.
Flåklypatoppen:
- Can be challenging for wheelchair users, but there is a stairlift that staff can operate if needed (the staircase itself has 81 steps).
- There is a gravel path to the top (approximately 170 metres from the stairs), and the path around it is accessible to pushchairs and wheelchairs in both directions.
The Moon Rocket (La Pollo XIII):
- Unfortunately, accessibility for wheelchair users is limited.
- The ground floor is accessible, but getting to the upper floors is described as an «extreme sport».

Special needs and considerations

Visual and hearing impairments: No dedicated permanent facilities for blind or deaf visitors, but please contact us in advance to arrange assistance from a guide.
Companions and animals: Companions and guide dogs have free admission to the art museum (not to the moon rocket). Other dogs are not allowed.
Food allergies: Some gluten-free options are available. Please contact us in advance with any special dietary requirements – most needs can be accommodated!
Perfume and allergies: We cannot guarantee that public areas are completely perfume-free, but we use environmentally friendly cleaning products and soaps in toilets etc.
Luggage: No storage facilities for luggage or other large items.
