Welcome everyone
We work to ensure that Huset Aukrust is a good experience no matter how you get around. The museum is on one level, and most of it is accessible – but some areas have natural limitations. If you need anything specific, please feel free to contact us before your visit.
The building is well adapted for visitors with reduced mobility, with easily accessible parking right outside the main entrance. The entire museum is on one floor. The café has an accessible toilet and a changing table. We have a wheelchair available to borrow for our guests. In Flåklypasalen, wheelchairs can be placed at the front.
Flåklypatoppen can be challenging to get up to in a wheelchair, but we have a chairlift that our staff can operate if needed (the stairs themselves have 81 steps to the top). There is a gravel path up to the top, and about 170 metres from the stairs to the top of the trail. Prams and wheelchairs can be rolled along the path both up and down.
From the museum entrance door, it is about 130 metres inside to the exit door, and about 170 metres in total to the stairs that take you up to the moon rocket.
Unfortunately, the moon rocket is not very accessible for wheelchair users. You can enter the first floor, but if you want to continue up the floors, it is extreme sports, as one of our staff said.
Regarding visual or hearing impairment: unfortunately, we do not have any special permanent arrangements for blind or deaf visitors. But please get in touch, and we can arrange for a guide to welcome you. Companions and guide dogs are allowed free access to the artist museum itself, but not to the moon rocket.
Regarding accommodation for food allergies, we have some gluten-free options. If you have special dietary needs, please contact us before you arrive. We can arrange most things!
Regarding allergies to perfume and similar products, unfortunately we cannot guarantee that the public space is free of them. We aim to accommodate this by using environmentally friendly cleaning products/soaps in the toilets, etc.
Unfortunately, we are unable to store luggage or other large items when you visit us.
Dogs (except guide dogs) are not allowed.
We are happy to make arrangements if you have specific needs.
